In a move that is becoming something of a tradition for the Forza franchise, you can now purchase DLC featuring an array of Porsche cars. Up until recently EA had an exclusivity agreement with the German car company, meaning that if you wanted to drive a 911 in a racing game you were often forced to drive an RUF (a company which take Porsches and modifies them). Turn 10 studios gained permission to include actual Porsches as DLC at least 6 months after launch which is how the brand was added to Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 6. EA’s agreement with Porsche ended this year and Microsoft have entered into a 6-year partnership with the German car company, the first fruits of which are the Forza Horizon 3 Porsche Car Pack. Here’s the official statement about the partnership –
We’re thrilled to share that today at the New York International Auto Show, Porsche and Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios announced a six-year partnership to collaborate on a suite of co-branded initiatives for Porsche and the Forza franchise. The partnership kicks off today with open registration for Porsche’s esports sponsorship debut in Forza Racing Championship Season 3: The Porsche Cup – the most inclusive racing esports program and home to the largest online racing community in gaming. Today also brings the release of the Forza Horizon 3 Porsche Car Pack, featuring an exciting lineup of Porsche cars for 2016’s best-selling racing game Forza Horizon 3, exclusively on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
