News is being revealed little by little for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, and this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con provided looks at new characters as well as a trailer. We got our first look at Kang the Conqueror, the main villain in the game, and his attempt to take over Chronopolis. It also includes a first look at a few characters, one of which is Man-Ape.
Chronopolis will be the biggest world that Warner Bros. and Tt Games has made in a LEGO game to date, and most likely will top the character count for the largest roster. There are 170 positions for characters in the game according to the revealed poster. This does not account for multiple outfits for each character, i.e. Ironman and Captain America for example, which would put the count above 200. With LEGO Marvel’s Avengers roster hitting 250+ with DLC, Marvel Super Heroes 2 will have a number to add in order to catch up. Mathematically, they would hit 250 if just half of the characters had one additional outfit.
In LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, the story line takes us through multiple time periods including the Wild West, New York City 2099, Ancient Egypt and more. No word on how many levels will be in the game, but most story modes in LEGO games consist of 15. One thing that hasn’t been confirmed yet is the manner in which we can unlock characters. Up until LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you could purchase characters as soon as you unlocked them. Free play levels were also unlocked right away. The Force Awakens changed this, requiring you to beat the entire story mode before accessing them. There were a number of complaints about this feature, so hopefully it’s changed come this time around.
